Meet the Raptors - Summer Experience
Escape the summer heat with this one of a kind indoor air-conditioned falconry experience. Learn about bird of prey conservation and the ancient art of hunting with a trained bird of prey.
This interactive Falconry demonstration will allow you to work closely with one of our hawks, calling them to your gloved hand. Get hands on with one of our owls and learn what makes these unique birds of prey such an important part of the ecosystem and a bird you might want to encourage to hang around your yard. You will learn about the history of falconry, how it is currently practiced and the difference between the birds that are used in Falconry. We'll discuss the flight styles, identification, and conservation of various birds of prey. This encounter is intended to bring you closer to birds of prey and give you a deeper understanding of their lives and ecology.

* All public guests will need to come to the front desk and sign a waiver and make payment before they are able to attend the experience.
*This experience does require a minimum of 4 guests, if we do not meet the minimum we may reschedule or refund if rescheduling is not possible.

Hawk Walk
Join us for Sky Island Falconry's signature experience!
Enjoy a short discussion about the modern practice of the ancient art of falconry.
Call a trained Harris's Hawk to your gloved hand.
Follow a falconer and their hawk through the Sonoran Desert on a hunt for prey.
Observe first-hand the way a falconer and hawk work together on a hunt, if you're lucky you may even have the chance to witness them catch prey.
Finish your experience with a Q&A session and another chance to call the hawk to your gloved hand. This will be the perfect time to get that perfect photo or slow-mo video of the bird landing on your hand.
* This is an actual hunting experience that occurs off trail in a wild desert environment. The walk includes trekking through uneven terrain and is not recommended for anyone with mobility concerns. The Hawk Walk averages 1-2 miles.

Location: For this experience we have various locations, we have Hawk Walks at the White Stallion Ranch (9251 W Twin Peaks Rd, Tucson, AZ 85743) and for those wanting a little more adventure in a more remote location we offer Hawk Walks on the stunning Ironwood Forest National monument.
The Triple Threat Raptor Experience
The Triple Threat Raptor Experience will give you a chance to experience all 3 types of birds we have here at Sky Island Falconry Experience: Hawks, Falcons and Owls.
Falcons: Meet one of our falcons and learn what makes them the fastest creatures on the planet. Learn their ancient history and role in falconry and how falconers helped save Peregrine falcons from being wiped out in North America. If conditions allow, you may be treated to an amazing aerial display as one of our falcons drops out of the sky at breakneck speed only a few feet in front of you.
Owls: Meet one of the most primitive raptors on the planet, learn about its role in nature, its habitat, and what makes it an ideal raptor to keep around the neighborhood.
Hawks: Lastly you will have the opportunity to interact with one of our trained hawks. We teach you to call the bird to your gloved hand and send it away to perches.
* There will be abundant photo opportunities throughout this program.
* This is not a hunt. This experience occurs in a small clearing in the desert a short walk from the parking lot. A good option for anyone with mobility concerns.
